Im getting married this march! As far as the time before, Its gonna depend on where you live. If possible, I would book the huge stuff like locations of the ceremony and reception asap, can’t hurt! As for the other stuff, you prolly have time, but I will say don’t get too used to puttin stuff off, I suggest ordering your dress like 8-9 months before, bridesmaids 4-6 monts before, and defiently have deposits on all the vital stuff (photos, flowers, cakes, etc…) by 6 months before. Then you have time to work out the kinks, really and truly tho, even tho you don’t need to really rush, you can start as soon as you want! Ive never heard a bride say I wish I had place off ordering my _____. As for thoughts, what do you mean? like colors or themes or what? Email me or question another question and I will give ya tons! Excellent luck and congrats!
This really depends where you live. In the city where I live, the largest thing is to book the location and caterer for the supper and dance - most need to be done at least a year ahead. Also, to meet with and book the church - for some religions you need to do pre-marital counselling.
A year ahead of time is the usual. Some specialty items, like a unique cake from a very busy bakery require a year ahead order. Go to your local library or book store and you will find wedding plot books that tell you what to do in every step in a time line formula. This is very helpful. You can be sure you are not forgetting a touch that may be small, but vital. Best wishes!
You can go ahead and start preparation if you want. Go to http://www.theknot.com and make an account for you and your fiance. There’s a checklist online they’ve got that will give you thoughts/suggestions about when things need to be completed. They’ve also got a place where you can figure your budget online.
Don’t start serious preparation until approx. 12 months out. Before that top, austerely sock away money.
If you plot too early, you make all kinds of problems. 12 months is more than enough time.
As a wedding planner I start 10-12 months before that way two months before you would have 6 weeks til two weeks before the wedding for the last small touches. If you need my services or have any question contact me at lcweddingplanner@yahoo.com
Thank You

If you live in a city where weddings are well loved you need to book your reception venue now! Keep this in mine you Do Not Have a Wedding Date UNTIL you book your reception venue. The more well loved places book weddings at least 2 to 3 yrs in advance.
After you book your reception hall everything else is gravey. Except you are getting married in place where selections are very limited. In which case you need to make a list of the vendors that you want for your wedding, contact them and question how many weddings do they book a weekend? and When can you make an appointment to come and see there work? Once there, if you still want this vendor question them how soon should you place a deposit?
Oh you might want to invest in a pocket planner to write down all your wedding related dates and appointments only. The two-year pocket planners from the dollar store work just fine.
You need to start this administer now because you might as well as say 2006 is bout over (its the middle of Oct.) Besides the sooner you start the sooner you close and the goal to preparation any wedding is to be finsh with EVERYTHING 2 to 3 weeks before the wedding day. For you will have some stress that cannot be avoided, but why have extra stress that can be avoided.
