Having fun. Don’t get all wrapped up in micro-managing things that you forget about being with your friends and family on the most pleased day of your life!

I see brides get all bent out of shape because of things that just don’t matter - the flowers are the incorrect color, the band’s set up in the incorrect place, the cake collapsed, the bar ran out of booze… Don’t sweat the small stuff and really delight in your time.

I was maid of honor/wedding planner at my brothers wedding in October, and unintentionally also for my moms on August 1, 2009!!!

But I found that the most missed things are usually the least vital things. Trust me, the huge things are not simple to forget! I reckon our largest problem at my brothers was they didn’t have more parking preparations for guests, thinking more people would ride together then what they did. But since their wedding was at the brides moms house, the neighbors were very nice about sharing their driveways. The more vital things are austerely not possible to forget, so chances are, if you missed a touch on your checklist, it was only there as a waste of money in the first place!!

Time Management. So many brides and grooms are late to their own wedding, late for the reception and take too long with pictures and things. Keep things moving. Remind those giving toasts to keep it small and sweet. So many of my friends were mortified when people gave long, drawn out, overly personal speeches at their weddings that they weren’t expecting and bored guests who were hungry and waiting to eat.
