I just want to know what the competition is charging, because perhaps I’m underpricing my services.
Thanks for all your answers so far. All of them are good.

The most? I would say $5k if I was getting everything I wanted and I knew I woulds love the services. We are paying $960 for 5 hours for our DJ, no lights or extras. We chose him because we are familiar with his work and he’s done many events we’ve attended in the past.
Good luck!
depends but i think people are willing to pay anything to make sure they’re wedding is going to be perfect. so im telling you,you could probably charge more and most likely people won’t care as long as you do a good job.
DJ’s at weddings are bad taste. Cheap n nasty
Get a band of some kind. Anything from swing to rockn roll
In my area $100 to $150 per hour is the norm but there is usually a little break for the first 4 or 5 hours - - like $375 for 4hrs then $100 each additional hour.
I live in Central PA.
What do you charge? And where are you from? Location makes a big difference. The # of people you use. And the kind of set up you have.
$500. I’m cheap I guess
It also depends on your location too. Maybe you could get a friend to call other djs in your area and get a price quote from them? Then compare your prices.
The standard is $1000 (Toronto), but that’s for a crappy DJ - they provide the kissing games, they MC, they provide a planner. If you’re one of those DJs, then I guess $800-$900 is a good amount (everything’s expensive in Toronto). If, however, you’re just a DJ, and don’t need to be told the difference between your job and the MC, don’t try to harass the guests, don’t try to get the couple to make it look like a nightclub, double it.
Well personally, I prefer bands and paid $6000 for an 11 piece band. That comes with a light show and an extra $600 added for the globo lights with our initials. If a DJ had a light show and globo lights included, I would be willing to pay up to $3000-4000. I would not pay as much as I did for my band as I think DJs have far less work to do.
bias alert: I’m a DJ.
Up to $6000. I think between $800 and $2000 is reasonable depending on services and reputation. Really though, what is reasonable is whatever people will pay.
If you are concerned that you are underpricing your services, just raise your prices and see if you still get hired. Maybe you are just DJ super awesomeness realized… or maybe you’re cheap.
