The number of guests does not matter in this case, what does matter is the amount of time the photographers place in.

    Where do you live?

It depends on the quality of photographer you want. I have seen prices from $300 for 4 hours to $3000 for 4 hours. I would talk to every photographer you can and compare all the packages and make sure you are getting a excellent deal.

I had one photographer charge $500 for 6 hours just to shoot the wedding. You didn’t get anything except you pay extra for the photos. The photos for a 4×6 cost $10 each.

It doesn’t matter the amount of guests, it depends of the area you live in, the experience of the photographer and the hours work and the final product (with/out prints, with/out cd’s, albums, with/out rights etc.). We had only 38 guests and our photgraphy bill was $3800.

When it comes to photography I urge you not to go "as cheap as possible". there will only be one wedding and only one chance to document the most vital time of your life. If you go the cheapest, you may find someone with out experience, with an amateur camera, some one unprofessional , someone that will disappear with your money or not show up, or show up with his own guests. You may not like the pictures, you may get dark, unfocused pictures… you may even never see the pictures because they may not get them back to you. I have seen this type ob complains here over and over again…just because they wanted to save on photography.

Whatever you do, question for references and persist on seeing a portafolio. Set up a contract.

    Excellent luck

well the photog doesn’t care how many guests there are, he only cares how many hours you need him to work. if you want him to start in the AM and get pics of you and the bridesmaids getting ready, and work all the way to the end of the reception, that’s going to cost you much more than $1000 I despise to tell you.

Other answers are right, photographers bill for their time not by the number of guiests. So you may want to see how much it would be for professional photos at the ceremony and some posed photos, and then have disposable cameras at each table at the reception. Have a few of your bridesmaids make sure all the cameras get used and pictures are taken of eahc table. Also see if any of your friends will take pictures of the special dances etc.

We had a professional photographer but we also had disposable cameras at each table and we got the best pictuires. Lots of candids of all our friends and family. (Some pics did not come out that fantastic but most were excellent!)

Also you may want to check photography school web sites and see if you can get a student to do your wedding for a cheaper price. You may be able to get a student to do the whole thing for $1000. I would suggest if you do use a student get a list of all the pictures you want to be taken and designate a bridesmaid or groomsmen to make sure all those special pics get taken!

    Excellent luck!
