    Hi,
I am 19 and am a wedding planner. I went to college for advertising, but realized that a liberal arts education wouldn’t help me at all. Honestly, you don’t HAVE to get a college degree to be a wedding planner. It’s much more important to have experience and a great portfolio, rather than a college degree. Think about it, if you were hiring a wedding planner would you ask for their college degree, or their portfolio?
so I’m 19, and working for a wedding planner in NYC. I had 2 previous wedding planner internships, but this is my first full time job. It’s amazing! I’m planning on starting my own business in 2-ish years. Are you close to NY? We can start a company together…lol.
Good luck with everything! It’s such a fun job!

I would get a business major, perhaps with an emphasis in accounting. As a wedding planner, you would probably be running your own business. There is nothing in college to teach you how to specifically plan a wedding. You could see if there are any wedding planners in your area and see if they will let you shadow them for a day.
