We are deciding between two. We met them and I like them both. My fiance likes one of them, Rob. Rob has 20 years of radio experience and has done over 500 weddings. Tony has 18 years of wedding experience and is a little cheaper. They are both nice and flexible. Are there any important things to consider before making the decision. I am going to call their references tomorrow, hopefully that will show some guidance

  1. I DJ ZOMBIE Weddings says:

    1. His preparation. Has he mailed a questionnaire so he understands fully your itinerary, the songs for the reception traditions, that’s he’s ready to make formal introductions - knows how to pronounce everyone’s names properly.
    2. His play list. Is it comprehensive and up to date? Has he requested a play list for all your "special" songs? Can he provide atmosphere (dinner) music and switch gears when the real party starts?
3.Personality : Have you decided you want a DJ with a quiet, background type personality, or one who has some flair and really gets a crowd moving.
Sound gear. Have you heard the system he will be playing on? Have you heard it "cranked up" so you have no worries about distortion or crappy speakers?
Those are some keys, in order of importance pretty much, except the sound gear.

Get all that in one DJ and you’ve chosen wisely.

    personality is key!

You have to be able to feel like hes a friend and he will hang out and play the music that your friends like. But at the same time, you need to know that he will play family and mood appropriate music.

The references will help but I would say ask them if they can tell you when they are DJing next

You can pop in (Dress nicely!) and explain if anyone asks that you are just getting a sample of the DJs style and what led them to choose the DJ as well and what they think of them.

Both have enough experience though you want to be careful because one bad night can change one’s reputation.

Our DJ was AMAZING and if you live in the Chicagoland area let me know I will give you a recommendation!

This person needs to be able to respect your music selections above his opinion and he must have personality….

I used a friend of a friend… a really bad idea!! he showed up drunk and to top it off, he didn’t like the music i downloaded and burned on to cd’s… all he had to do was put the disc in and hit play… but no… that is not what he thought was best… he didn’t like the songs i chose and so he decided to play his own music… he was dismissed during the reception and we played our own cd’s….
