I usually urge a top down approach by breaking down the entire wedding experience into 3-4 different parts:
1. Wedding Ceremony
2. Wedding Reception
3. Honeymoon
From each of these parts you break it down even further. Wedding preparation is typically 12 months and every month a touch should be completed or paid attention to. For example, in the first month you would doubtless want to question yourself general questions in order to know the answers to questions that will come up eventually such as how large you want your wedding to be. Just from answering this one question, you can determine the answers to other questions such where your reception will be located (if you have a lot of people, you would want a larger venue… if you have more people, you would need a larger budget, etc.)
Guides that help break this down for you will help keep you the most organized, but I hope this answer helped to give you some direction in your preparation administer.
Well, after being proposed to and setting the date, it’s booking the ceremony (church, temple, JP) and booking the reception site. Then, it’s organizing the guest list, buying the dress and hiring the photographer/DJ and the caterer (if it’s not included at your reception site).
Of course, money is always the fundamental thing that determines everything listed above. You have to figure out how to pay for it!
The other things, like alternative the flowers, deciding the colors, getting the invites, can be stressful. But, it’s stressful because it takes a lot of time and patience to get everything done. You can DIY centerpieces, favors, invites and other things.

It’s a fantastic wedding preparation site. Otherwise, after you’re engaged the first thing is to place together a preliminary guest list to get an thought of numbers. Once you have that, you know how huge of a reception site you need. As soon as possible, book the reception hall and the church(and/or JP, etc), as these fill up really quickly. If your reception site doesn’t cater, you need to book a caterer as quickly as well. Within 8 months or so of your wedding you need to find and order your dress so you have plenty of time to get it in and fitted.
After these things, the smaller items like bridesmaids dresses, tuxes, and flowers, etc can be worked on.
One of the best resources to have, no matter what kind of wedding you are preparation - huge or small - is a wedding planner book.
Without one of these things, its prettymuch impossible to keep track of who is in charge of preparation what. It’ll also help you keep track of all the pre-wedding things you have to do like dress fittings, etc.
There is a free one here: http://www4.jcpenney.com/jcp/g.....d=external|gr2_registryhome
All you have to do to get it is to sign up for a wedding registry at JC Penney, and they’ll give you that planner book!
