Doing a cocktail party instead of a full meal can save you a lot of money, and it less stressful than cooking all of your own food. Depending on your family/friends you could even considering doing a potluck. I reckon everyone making and bringing different christmas cookies could be so cute. A bit random but if you are going to wear a veil buy it online, they one of the most ridiculously priced wedding accessories. That is what I did and it is even better quality than the stuff in the stores. Preparation ahead is also vital, that way you get buy things while they are on sale and not be stuck needing a touch so terrible it does not matter what the price is.

have the ceremony and reception in the same place. Have appitizers instead of a meal.
Otherwise rent a hall decorate it get a judge to marry you there and have catered food and homemade foods. Keep it simple.

well, it's really different for everybody, but both my hubby and I have a large family so women in both family will take care of the catering. My friend who is a seamstress has been working on my mom's wedding dress , and we plot on having the reception at his parents house. They have a huge backyard with a view on a lake. I guess we have been pretty lucky. If you have any contacts call them now. Ancient friends ( hell my ex is going to be my DJ!!.lol) I also heard about sponsors. I heard this couple got married and spent $0. All they did was place the sponsors affair card in the goody nags, and the sponsors paid for their wedding……. will have to make more research, I am not sure how they worked a deal

Do your own food, like smoke a brisket, turkey, and a ham. Get potato salad, coleslaw, bread, rolls and stuff like that from Sam's. Congratulations on your wedding, you might reckon about moving the date away from Christmas too because people are trying to do christmas gifts and the extra expesense for a wedding gift (or money) is kinda rough, especially in these tough times.

Are you getting married in a church? Because churches at that time of year will be perfectly decorated and would make wonderful backdrops for some of your pictures. Also, maybe the reception could be in the church hall if there is one.
My niece rented a senior focal top for a Saturday for $200. She pretty much had the hall all weekend. Of course you or someone has to clean up afterwards. They also had their wedding ceremony at the same hall and had a hometown restaurant cater it. Saved a lot. For favors they did CD's with romantic songs on it.

Anytime you prepare a budget, you first list all the things you will need.

You could do this on an excel spreadsheet. I also found this program a long time ago Microsoft Works 7.0 and it has places in there where you can really plot events.

So for example you will need the following things

A Hall/Place to have the Reception
Don't know if you are going to cater or not, you could save money by doing the food yourselves, but you will need help from friends
    and family to do this
    Tables/Seats/Tablecloths
    plants/Focal top Pieces
    DJ/Band/Dance Floor
    Cake

Then you would choose if you are serving alcohol or not, and if so you need a bar and a bartender

So you could start by pricing these things and then if you reckon of anything else you will need add that to the list.

    Excellent Luck

Excellent thought to have a wedding at Christmas time! Many halls will be decorated with poinsettias and other Christmas decorations. You will not have to decorate at all! Also, having a wedding in the winter will usually give you a break on catering costs! Excellent for you!

Floating candles in simple bowls of water make elegant and inexpensive centerpieces.

My cousin had a Christmas wedding and used stuff instead of place-cards, these also doubled as favors! She made the stuff out of dough. When they were dry, she painted names and table numbers on them and tied on a pretty ribbon!

My cousin who had a Christmas wedding used potted "mini Christmas trees" as her centerpieces. She also had tables stand up and sing Christmas carols instead of clinking glasses for them to kiss.

Hope this has helped! Excellent luck!

I would urge if you want to cut down on the wedding cost - you could do a Justice of the Peace Ceremony. Then have a reception at one of your favorite restaurants.

Or do a small wedding in the home with a minister officiating. Then have food you want catered in for a small crowd.

Either of these choices should leave room for a honeymoon. Only you know what your fiscal situation is. I urge being very realistic about what you can and cannot do.

The one thing you do not want to do is overspend and then return from the honeymoon and top fingers.

Try to find local wedding planner, and they might be able to help you out on budget preparation. It sounds cost on you in the first place, but ends up with saving eventually…
