No way, it’s not too early. We went to a marriage show today and someone told us that we’re smart to start preparation this early. My fiance and I are getting married in December 2010. I’m taking 2 years to plot, lol. As for mean length? I’m assuming it’d be anywhere between 6 months to a year, but I don’t know. So relax, and be cool.
Congrats and excellent luck!!!
Yeah you can start to plot your wedding now if you want. All i know is my sister is having a her wedding may 16th 2009. And we start preparation the wedding this past friday. I say the earlier the better because you don’t have to rush when the huge day comes.
The first thing you have to do is find a ceremony and reception location. Since your ceremony will be in your parents’ backyard, you are already excellent to go on that one. Do you need a separate reception site or will that be in the backyard too? If you need a separate reception site, then you need to start looking soon.
Depending on where you live, it may be very trying to plot a whole wedding for 100+ guests with your budget. Just the food and beverages can cost that much, depending on who your caterer is, etc. I’d say you should start preparation now so that you have plenty of time to quest around for the best deals.
At the very least, start thinking about what kind of ceremony and reception you want, etc. That way you can come up with plenty of thoughts to cut costs and still have a fantastic time!
EDIT: Why are you waiting so long? If you’ve been engaged for 6 months and you’re getting married May 21, 2011, then that’s nearly 3 full years of date! If you’re ready to start preparation why not get married in May of 2010? A year and a half is enough time without dragging it out too long.
Take your time, it is a huge day and needs not be rushed. Save up both time and money to make your day fantastic for the both of you, your parents (as it is at their house) and the 100 guests you have attending.
There are many resources on the internet that will help you greatly. Some free and some may cost a few dollars, choose wisely and you will do fantastic justice to yourself. Have a fantastic day!
