do you reckon i will read this whole paprgraph
Hey! You want to be a wedding planner? Go ahead! Look!
Excellent for you! I am preparation my wedding AND majoring in Event Preparation. I am a Mass Communications major with an emphasis in intergrated marketing. It is kind of like public relations. It teachs you a lot, fantastic networking, how to market yourself, etc. Also, I am taking hospiality classes such as catering, beverages, and all that to get a well rounded feel of the environment. Your senior year talk to your counselor about some of these courses. Excellent luck and work hard!
That’s sort of what I am going for as a career choice, but not quite.
Everything to do with this career is varied. There are lots of options. Do you want to work for yourself? Do you want to work for a large company/organization?
Those are the questions you should question yourself.
Salary is based off of those questions. You could make all the way from zero dollars to hundreds of thousands of dollars, it depends on how you go about things.
I would urge you get a degree in Hospitality Management, with this degree you can become an event planner/ meeting coordinator at large hotels and for other companies.
This is usually where you would make the larger salary except you are hugely successful going into affair for yourself.
Either way requires a TON of work and dedication. It’s harder than you reckon.
Excellent luck!
well, you are smart to start with an education. Why don’t you take a major in affair, with a minor in a touch having to do with restaurants and hotel mgt, or a touch like that. you will learn about all aspects of in succession a affair, and you can learn about catering as well. Remember, wedding preparation is more than just knowing how to pick out flowers and a dress. It is in succession a affair, customer service and customer satisfaction etc etc etc.
As far as I know, there are no college majors or even courses at universities specifically for this profession. There are, even if, several excellent online and owing to-the-mail type courses to become a certified wedding consultant. Pretty sure you have to have either a diploma or GED to take them, even if.
For now, I would try to get a weekend and/or summer job at a marriage shop. Most marriage shops carry prom dresses too, & a lot of them hire high school girls to work during prom season.
Although you may have to start out helping the prom customers only, if you are professional, responsible, & dedicated to learning, you should eventually be able to wait on brides as well. This will give you an thought of how much emotion and drama are really wrapped up in the wedding preparation administer.
The patience, organization, and people skills are vital, but so is dealing with the brides & their mothers when they get out of control! Diplomacy is another vital skill to this profession.
Excellent luck to you!
