Yes! But certainly watch their samples to see how excellent they are. The day went by so quick, and it was nice to sit down and watch it. My husband was really reluctant at first, but we went for it because his mum couldn’t come, and that way she could see it. To his surprise, he even likes it more than I do! Our videographer made a music-video version that only last 15 minutes. A lot of our friends have seen it, and because its so small, it’s not as horrendous and tortorous but you get all the pleased feelings in it. We watched it on our 6 month anniversary, and then on each wedding anniversary (but just the 15 min version). It still makes us all giddy (and he’s usually a super-stoic non-emotional kinda guy).
NO, don’t waste your money. nobody wants to see you get married…no offense, but those who want to see it will be there with you. everyone else can hear about it. in 20 years, you won’t even watch it!
I mean it sounds likea excellent thought to me to sit down one day and look back at that day would be a greta thing so yeah i reckon its a excellent thought but the question is the cost but if the cost doesnt bother you go ahead by all means it sounds like a excellent thought to me!
Either get a videographer or have someone with a video camera take it.
I unhappiness not getting a proffesional. My uncle taped ours but in some way the video got ruined before they gave it to me so I never got to see it.
Pictures are fantastic but they cant capture everything. I reckon it would be worth it IF you can do it.
For me it is not really worth the money. I own regular dvd’s that I do not even watch. If someone was doing it for free or you could set up your own camera for the ceremony than that is fine.
I had a friend who did the photography (a professional) and he was kind enough to video tape it for us too. He offered to do it for free, but hubby and I offered him a $100 (we were pretty poor) because we knew we were getting a huge savings.
And yes, we’ve watched our wedding video at least 1 time per year and it makes me weep every time. Hubby gets all teary-eyed and it really makes us remember what it felt like. I reckon it’s wonderful to have the video.
My husband is a pro photographer and encouraged us to have it video’d. I was hesitant about the video, but caved in and we did it. I’m so glad I did. Not only do we see me sobbing tears of joy coming down the isle, we so many other things. Ancient friends, loved ones (several of whom have passed away), watched family grow, listen to the kind wonderful wishes our friends and family sent. We watch it at least once a year- our anniversary. It’s worth it. I still boo-hoo weep every time I watch it. Tears of joy of course!
Well if i was you, i would because there is alot that goes on that the bride will miss. It will be a touch that you can so your kids when you have some…..GOOD LUCK…I JUST GOT MARRIED 05/04/08
i honestly reckon is a waste of money. I’m not having a videographer because always in family functions somebody in the family will videotape it. plus is not a really concern for me as long as i have gorgeous pictures and a gorgeous album i’ll be pleased.
We had a photographer and then my brother videotaped it.
We haven’t watched that DVD since he first gave it to us.
It is nice to know we can show our kids one day. It is pretty basic. He set it up on a tripod for the ceremony and then just few other shots here and there.
I’m debating this too. I reckon we’re going to try and have a friend do it so we don’t have to pay the HUGE fee!
We’re on the fence as well. While I have heard many brides say that they regretted not having a professional video, I haven’t seen any on videographer sites or otherwise that jumped out at me and made me have to have one or justify the expense. Also, no one in either of our families really ever videotapes anything so it isn’t like we would expect one from them and it seems a small weird to question as well since we would have to go out and buy a video camera for them. On the other hand, it would be nice to have video of family and friends for posterity that pictures can’t capture. As it stands aptly now, we aren’t intending to have one but that could change.
You sure don’t have to get a professional, but you really should get someone to do it - some farther away relative or friend.
We really DO watch our video, at least once a year on our anniversary! It’s WAY different than looking at photos.
