I suggest a binder that zips up and has a strap. I found one about 2 years ago at Staples. It’s better than trying to stick a bulky binder in a large purse, plus the zipper helps to ensure nothing falls out. Here’s some help in setting it up.

    Following are the items needed:

    -3-hole Binder
    -Calculator
    -Pen & Pencil
-Notepad or 3-hole punch lined paper
-Twenty Two (22) - three (3) Hole Dividers
-Twenty Two (22) – three (3) Hole Plastic Document Protectors
    -Zippered plastic pouches
-2 Plastic Affair Card Holders to hold twenty (20) Cards

    Following are binder section suggestions:
    -Calendar
    -Task/To Do List or Timeline
    -Budget
    -Vision
    -Wedding Party
    -Guests
    -Attire & Beauty
    -Accessories & Favors
    -Cake
    -Caterer
    -Ceremony/Officiator
    -Coordinator
    -plants/Décor
    -Gift Registry
    -Honeymoon
    -Music/Entertainment
    -Paper Items
    -Photography & Videography
    -Reception Site
    -Rentals
    -Transportation
    -Miscellaneous

I bought a premade one at Chapter’s for $20 and it was worth every penny. It has advice, budgeting sheets, what to do each month leading up to it. etc.
It is organized into the following sections:
    - A page for Vital names and numbers aptly at the front
    - Parties & Events/Registry
    - All about the bride (dress, shoes, hair appointments etc)
    - The wedding party and guest (info about wedding attire for attendandts, groom, parents, hotel information if you are paying for their lodging and transportation for out of town guests)
    - Invitations and Announcements (guest list, info about invitations)
    - plants, Music and Photography (counting a list of poses you want to make sure you get i.e. mother and father with bride, mother father bride AND groom etc etc)
    - The ceremony (officiant info, location info, vows, programs)
    - The reception (location, food, place cards, rental companies.
    - Happily ever after (the hotel info for the wedding night, honeymoon info, who will take care of your presents after the wedding if you leave aptly away etc etc)

hope this helps. (by the way the binder is called "tying the Knot:the complete wedding organizer" and it’s pink and while striped.
    excellent luck and congrats!

I would suggest that you check out your local bookstore: Waldenbooks, Barnes and Noble, even the wedding sections at craft stores or Wal-Mart. All of these places have brilliant preparation books with tabs and pockets and are a lifesaver when preparation a wedding. I’ve seen them as cheap as $15 all the way up to $50 or more.

Ceremony- locations, officiants, outline (program), working, vows
Reception-locations, caterers, decor, favors, weather backups
Attire-both sides of the wedding party, counting jewelry, hair
    Budget
    Marriage Party-who’s in the wedding
    Misc- flowers, checklist,

keep photos of things you like for thoughts, fabric swatches, menus and prices. and a place for receipts for what you have bought.

I got a free one that’s perfect, you get it for free from JC Penney when you register there. They have the tabs, plus all of the things to question vendors, a budget, checklist, everything. Cost nothing and is really helpful.

We just used tabs (bought at office max) pages when my sister was preparation her wedding. Helps to have some plastic sleeves that hold onto receipts as well.

Her tabs included: Wedding venue, plants, Dress, Restaurant (venue for reception), Music (pretaped music for reception), Bridesmaids. I’m sure there were others, but they skipped the limo and there was no dancing.

My system is the same, although there is less stuff. It includes Wedding venue, Dress/vest, invitations, Food, Cake, Photography, Decor, House and Incidentals. I’m having a small wedding at a rural chapel with the appetizer reception at my home. Decor includes renting tables and chairs and linen, as well as 2 vases of flowers. You might also have one each for Officiant and plants.

I bought a premade one really cheap at walmart and it is so worth it! The small bits of advise and the spaces to fill everything in make things simple! It also has space so that I can paste pictures from magazines/catalogs in it which I like so I can keep those visuals handy
