    Here are some things that I have many extras of:

    pans- different sizes and shapes 2 to 3 sets each =fantastic when making tier cakes when they want more than 1 of a touch (satelite cakes)

    tips- lots of these I have 4 size 104’s huge and small simpler to have extras when using different icings and colors

    extra bags- same reason as above

    wilton books, and also other cake books- just for the pictures

    cake boards and cake boxes they come in different colors and sizes.

    if you are going to be working with fondant or gumpaste doubtless extra tools of the ones you use the most.

    lots of do and take pictures of everything you make to make a portfolio. also any letters (excellent ones) notes etc.. that any customers send or give you–sometimes these are better than pictures.

    well thats all I can reckon of at the moment.

    It may be worthwhile to get an apprenticeship at a bakery that specializes in wedding cakes. That way, you can earn money while you learn from an expert in the biz. You will also be able to learn which tools you prefer without investing in a lot that you will never use. You’ll be able to observe first hand also how to do the affair aspect of cake baking.

    take a course in community college relating to this.

    find out what tools are neccessary. keep detailed lists and minutes.

    be the person who delivers exactly what you promise when you promise. this is the real secret of success.
