for your reception, have a buffet style dinner after the ceremony and after the dinner cut your cake and that would be it. no dj… the focus should be on ceremony and not focused on the party afterwards, save that for your honeymoon.
Try some "do it yourself" type of things..like the flowers..no need to get outrageous for 1 day just to be broke the next..and maybe separated in a few years..but excellent luck..u dont have to have all the fancy shmancy stuff…just operate on a budget
onlinewholesaleflowers.com, they will sell you all your flowers for wholesale prices, and then just question a artistic friend or fam member to do them for you.
set a budget. alot of the money goes towards the flowers. yes roses are nice but look for a touch just as pretty that are at a lower price. do you have any friends that are a DJ or know someone? maybe you can get a discount from that. at my cousin’s wedding another cousin was videotaping the reception for her. yes it won’t be as nice as a touch a professional would do but it does save lots of money. i know that some people place disposable cameras on the table for people to take photos for them.

Stay away from wedding consultants and planners. I work for a banquet and catering facility and we do the same things they do but we do not charge for this service. We take care of everything from your wedding cake to your entertainment. The only thing you have to do is Find the church and have flowers sent there.

Shop on-line to get stuff cheaper, like dresses/ invitations. Sew your own dresses. Cater your own dinner and hire people to supply it/ like a church group.
Limit the number of guests, rent a really lovely wedding dress - how many guys really buy their suits these days? - and choose on a fixed menu for the reception. Have a late in the day wedding - as late as you can get and still be legal - so you only get stung for one reception instead of a reception and an evening buffet, which seem to be expected nowadays.
You’re obviusly using a computer - print out your own orders of service and invitations. I get to see many invitations and one of the more original ones I saw had the couple -dressed in jeans and tee-shirts - jumping for joy with their feet well off the ground in a small thumb-nail picture on the front, with ‘The Marraige of John and Catherine’ underneath! Different, and brought a smile to people’s faces.
If you want flower preparations, find out if you have any gifted friends or relatives who can do the arranging for you if you buy the flowers - only if in doubt, buy some well ahead of the ceremony and question them to do a demonstration for you. Tell them you will pay them to do it on the day - they may say they’d be pleased to do it voluntarily anyway, in which case be effusive in your thanks because they do take a long time to do!
Same with the cake - you could make it yourself or get someone else to do it, then either find someone who is excellent at icing or take it to a confectioner’s/patisserie to get it done professionally.
I’m a church organist; if you have a similar being of your acquaintance, question them if they’d play for you - only be warned; if you have a church wedding some churches will question you to pay the resident organist a fee ANYway, and it’s best to find this out beforehand!
If you are serious about saving money purely in a fiscal sense, then make a standing order to your bank or favourite fiscal institution which will give you a excellent interest rate and instant access to a savings account.
Try having a lunch instead of dinner. less food necessary and haveing a buffet costs less than a served sit down. you can keep things simple cause fuss costs. check owing to the family and friends. Anyone excellent with a camera? any musicians or someone who can DJ minutes? Place them to use for like or a discounted fee perhaps. I once attended a wedding with a Marriage Tea. We had cake and cookies and tea at the reception and it was hardly longer than the time it takes to get a nice series of pictures.
Having plotted my own wedding the number one best advice I can give is hire a wedding planner. Sure it may seem like an extra expense but keep in mind that they know a lot more than you and can get you the best deals on most things. All you have to do is choose what your budget is and make it clear that you can not go over that. By hiring someone to take care of all the in succession and preparation, you will save yourself a lot of stress and you will delight in your wedding and reception much more. JUST DO IT! You won’t unhappiness it!
Look for a nice outdoor spot for your wedding. Nature will provide the scenery, a fun picnic day with dancing in the grass, the sun bright, will be fantastic fun for a small money.
