You’re most likely going to spend the most on the flowers and the photographer. The photographer is not a touch you want to skimp on. You will have those pictures for the rest of your life you don’t want to be disapointed when you get them back and they are nothing like what you had invisioned. Photographers also usually charge by the package and by the hour. So it really depends on how many hours you need them for. Expect to mean around $1000 or more for a fantastic photographer. That is not counting the wedding album either.
plants are expensive because you use them for the marriage party, decorations, cake, and centerpieces. If you choose to use candles as the centerpieces, none on the cake, and to decorate with glass beads or fake crystals you will cute your costs DRASTICALLY! I budgeted only $750 for flowers. I had no thought I guess because with me, the groom, family, and our marriage party, decorations, centerpieces (half are being done in candles still) and the cake I am going to pay over $2500 just on the flowers! Crazy aptly? My centerpieces were $100 a piece alone just for the flower part and it would have been more if my mom hadn’t talked the lady into renting us the vases for free as long as we got the flowers from her. It’s seriously crazy how much you spend.
The DJ is the simplest part. They are usually very reasonable. My DJ is a long time friend so I got a discount (thank god lol) but they can range in price from about $600 to $800. A live band would of course cost way more of course but for DJ’s you can usually find a really fantastic one for a reasonable price.
Excellent luck and Congrats on your upcoming wedding!
Spend your money of the Photographer. You can find plenty of wholesale flower websites that sell to the public if you want to do your own flowers, bouquets etc. For a Dee Jay go to this website……
Hmmm…I went owing to the same thing (since I live in the Bay area also), and am having 100 guests.
I’d say photographer can range from $1,000-5,000 on mean here. You can try craigslist, or hire a photo major from a college nearby to get it lower than that. Or even buy disposable cameras if you want to go even lower, (but I hear alot of people not being pleased with the photo quality) in that situation.
Florist ranges about $1,000 and up especially if you want real ones. Of course, it can get lower than that if you buy your own from Costco, or get silk flowers from Michael’s. It depends how fancy you want to get, some flowers are cheaper to get because of the season.
DJ ranges from $1,000 and up. It depends how many hours they work and if you could find a friend that could do it for cheaper.
Cake doubtless ranges from $300 and up, ($1-$10 a slice), depending if you buy from Safeway or grocery store versus paying wedding cake ‘designer’ bakeries. And how fancy the top is, travel costs, etc.
Hope that helps, that is just what I see when I quest for vendors here, anyway. The bay area is EXPENSIVE!!

Here is my list of vendors I used and LOVED.
Photographer: http://www.californiaphotographer.com (he is the coolest guy and took incredible pix)
DJ: chris@christophermonroe.com (he is a not compulsory DJ from Wente Vineyards)
Florist: Seulberger’s Florist in Oakland
I don’t want to publish my name but if you email me, I’d be pleased to give you my name. All three vendors know and remember me well.
