In NJ, for our wedding last year, we spent $1800 for 1 videographer for 9 hours, plus full rights to our DVD and editing. No other frills, and that’s a pretty decent price here. Elsewhere, it’s outlandish.
A videographer can charge up to 50 dollars an hour. This will be billed even when they are at your dinner rehearsal. They will need to be bestow to know the path that the bride will walk and everything. so you will really be paying more than a days work. I am a beginner in video capturing of weddings so i would not charge much, but a professional in the field will. All plans to capture moments of the bride (getting prep and all) will have to be scheduled with the videographer. Post production (editing) is a different field and value. If your wedding is typically all day (lets say 10 to 7 pm) and he charges you45 an hour, you will be out $405 dollars for the day. This does not include the price of dvds and post production. Get ready to spend about $1,500 on the complete package. How many dvds did you say you wanted. I suggest that you order one dvd and then make copies for whoever else wanted one. I would request ( as a videographer) that all dvds be made by me, but who would know? I hope this helps a small. question for pricing with whomever you go with. do the math and then make your selection. find out if post production hourly rate differ from video capture hourly rate. Remember: any estimate you get will normally be higher than quoted so dont get upset. No videographer can predict the difficulties of editing the video until it is captured and transfered to editing station.
I have seen as high as $3500 in my area (a mid-sized Canadian city).
We got a steal of a deal..$375 plus taxes. Our videographer shot our whole Mass, plus our reception up to and counting the "formal" dances.
We got 2 edited DVDs to copy at will about 8 weeks later.
We were very pleased with the overall experience.
I would say that a typical price range where I live is about $800-$1000. It varies depending on your wedding (time, location, day), equipment used, experience, referals, and the size of your city/market/demand.
Your best bet to shop around for quotes..and do this well in advance. If they know you’re desperate, some may charge more just because they can.
It really depends on where you live.

i charge $700 plus travel expenses, which is about normal for a videographer.. if you want high definition, extra $100.
i usually return six DVD’s with full permission to copy at will, and i keep a copy in my archives in case of disaster.
takes about two weeks to get the DVD’s back. I spend about 40-60 hours editing over 8 hours of video into a 2 hour dvd.
hope that helps.
P.S. that does not include a photographer.

Excellent luck!
in Australia the mean minimum is $1500. don’t know where you live even if
I am getting all of what you said for $1400 which I reckon is really excellent compared to what a lot of other people in my area charge.
It depends on where you live and what the videographer offers.
I’ve seen them as low as $1000 and as expensive as $10,000.
