When we got married (a long time ago) my Mother-in-law insisted that we get the wedding/reception videoed. She was going to pay for it, then decided that she would pay half when she found out how $ it was. I frankly was against it, the ceremony itself was only 20 minutes long….and I didn’t think that watching the reception would be any fun at all.
Boy was I wrong!! 17 years later we still pull out the video and watch it. My kids get a kick out of the reception tape (it is separate from the wedding) and we just sit and laugh!! It’s amazing what goes on when your not looking, but the camera is!! Our package included a section about each of us growing up, a section of the two of us leading up to the wedding, & the wedding itself on one tape. The second tape was all reception. We recieved the Master & two copies for about $800. I would love to get it all transfered to DVD, but I am afraid to trust anyone with our Master copy.
Our videographer was a joy. He was helpful in so many ways, with photographer, a baker for our cake, helping with all the wedding stationary….he should have gotten extra money for a consultant!! If you can afford to do it, do it, you won’t regret it. Just call me greatfull for loosing that argument!
I have decided not to get one because our wedding will be about 15 minutes and I’m going to have a family member do that and our reception is outside at night and its kinda dark. But when I priced them they were about 1000+
i think we paid about 700. then another 600 for the photographer. good luck!
Where you live will influence the price. You’ll get one cheaper in Hayseed Country than you will in Big City, USA.
Around here they start at around $800
when I priced around in MS, it kept looking like around 1200, no thanks! We ended up buyin a dvd camcorder for 400 and getting a friend to video it and we got to keep the camcorder, it came out better in our opinion!
