theknot.com is a really fantastic website, but there are a LOT of really fantastic websites out there. The thing that helped me the most was going to marriage shows in my area and organizing all the information in a huge binder. Then I knew that all my stuff came from local vendors!! I also found it helpful to join an online community of people who were also preparation weddings at the time (none of my friends are married and I’m the oldest, so I’ve never had any kind of experience with it) - usually you’ll find them at wedding websites or on journal websites like livejournal or opendiary.
Excellent luck!!
theweddingchannel.com, the knot.com and also go to a davids marriage they have a wedding reference book i used it, it holds your receipt’s, tells u what to do next and gives you the proper etiquette. the two websites i used also and the are really excellent they even let your guest look to see what kinds of gifts to get you guys! excellent luck with everything!
theknot.com has a very detailed check list of things to do and timelines when they should be done-very helpful
Borders has TONS of books and kits that you can buy that help a LOT. I bought the Ultimate Wedding Workbook and Preparation Guide Lit. It comes in a box and has slots for everything you need. There are file folders to keep pamphlets and information for every vendor you need and whatever all in one place.
It is really pretty cool.
Plus it has coupons at the back of the huge book for a few places and a free website offer for your wedding!
Excellent luck!
http://www.weddingwire.com matches you up with vendors based on your preferences, and helps you organize everything. It’s incredible!
theknot.com is a fantastic place to start. I would even look into hiring an event preparation professional. An initial consult will show you everything that they can provide you and help propose some thoughts for you. Even if you don’t choose to use them….you still have the thoughts and a start at an outline
I liked the book "The One Stop Wedding Kit" for general preparation. It had a really helpful checklist in the front, and then useful tips for the rest of the preparation.
Confetti.co.uk, they have everything you will ever need!
Get yourself this book called "Marriage bargains." It is a book that is edited annually, and has real, honest opinions on everything wedding industry. For me, what I found the most helpful was the gown designer section: the authors really include a price range that each designer comes in, and a critique of their fashion styles and quality of the products, and gives them a rating as far as customer service and quality of the gowns.
The book is only $13 or so, and it is a total godsend.
Martha Stewart has some excellent thoughts, and she sells things retail too.
Miss Manners is excellent for rules.
