I am looking for something different for the wedding favors. I was thinking of making coasters with our picture on it but not sure. I am wanting it to be somewhat cheap and something I can make. Any ideas?

honey, stick with something edible or its just going to get thrown out. like, unless its a gold plated ipod and a years worth of free downloads, most favors get thrown away or forgotten or just sit around on someones counter for years. coasters are one of the gifts that will get thrown away probably. im not trying to be rude, but its the truth

Word of advice: Be careful with favors. Most guests throw them out or leave them. Hence why a lot of people are turning over to edibles.

No one is going to want a coaster for their house with a photo of the bride and groom… And, some might not even realize they can swap the photo out.. :)

Instead, why not bake some cookies with a photo of you and your groom on it? Adorable, creative and tasty :)

I was originally going to do mixed CDs, until I ran into some problems… Not only are they illegal (even though I’m sure no one would care), every guest has their own style of music.

So, instead, I am doing edibles… Flying Saucers and Swedish Fish (Flying saucers is one of my fav. candies and Swedish fish is my fiancee’s) and wrapping them in tulle circles with the appropriate colored ribbon.

    Good luck :)

Coasters are cute, there are a lot of insert your own photo options available. Other homemade ideas: little jars of preserves like jams if your handy in the kitchen, or those mini layer jars that have everything to make a batch of cookies or a cake, sugar cookies. there are super cute packaging options http://www.brides.com/planning.....ide_170983

A traditonal wedding favour is sugared almond rapped in a little bag.

If you buy a wedding dress magazine they usually have them in an enclosed brochure giving you ideas of what to buy.

Stick with something edible. I am having a candy buffet at my wedding with a bunch of different size favor boxes.

My best friend and bridesmaid is making magnets for everyone. She’s taking large glass stones and adhereing a picture of me and my fiance on them to the picture shows through the stone, then she’s adhereing a magnet to the back of that. She’s very crafty and just told me one day she’s doing them for us and I was like, "ok, now we have favors done!" I wasn’t going to do favors because we have placecard holders and fans for our outdoor ceremony that we had thought would double as favors, but she just decided she’d make them! Of course this is also the bridesmaid who hand made all of my thank you cards and gave them to me as my Christmas gift!

We found little favor bags a Wal-Mart and put Hershey’s Kisses and Hershey’s Hugs (a few of each) into each bag. then we put a little tag on the bag that said, "Hugs and Kisses from the Mr. and Mrs." Everyone loved the Idea and thought it was cute. Plus it is not a nic-nac that they will either throw away, leave at the table, or have on a shelf collecting dust.

If you absolutely have your heart set on making something, I would definitely go edible. Just be wary that in the last few days before your wedding, you are going to be incredibly busy. Consider doing something like the candy bar where your guests can fill up little cellophane bags or favor boxes with various kinds. Baking is a good option too. You can go to any store and pick up shaped pans for brownies or cookies or whatever and just wrap them up and they’ll keep for a couple of days or you can do them in batches so you don’t feel overwhelmed doing everything at once.

I agree with many other posters… make it edible! otherwise you’ll be stuck will 100 coasters that no one wanted and just left….. or they’ll just throw it away

I wouldn’t even waste my money on anything.

Contrary to what everyone is saying "Edible" isn’t always the way to go. Alot of people have sugar problems, food allergies, and just have a distate for sweets and can just as Easily throw them out. So either way you go, you will never make anyone happy. Here are some ideas for you.

This sounds cheap but everyone loved it. I bought small gift bags from the dollar tree (they were like 2-3 inches tall) and they had different designs like an engagement ring, a heart, wedding bells, etc. They were a dollar for 10 or 20 of them. Then I bought bubbles from the dollar tree (like 30 bottles for a dollar) and hershey kisses. I put a thing of bubbles and 2 kisses in each bag, it was simple and cheap but everyone complimented me on how cute it was.
