For the dress, I absolutely like David’s Marriage and their $99 sales which always seem to be going on.
Target also has a new line of wedding gowns for a very reasonable price, I reckon all of them are under $200.
You can always rent one too, my mom’s got eaten by mice in our garage anyhow!
For the cake, you can quest the internet for the basic thought of what you like, then take a picture of it to your local Walmart and they will recreate it for you!
It is really awesome, and they do incredible things!
A fraction of the price of any other cake.
College students can come in really handy too.
If you have a cullinary school near by, check out if you could get a senior student or a recent grad to make you your dream cake.
They aren’t used to getting much money, so they would be cheap and it would give them experience and exposure for their portfolio.
Photography majors could also help out.
Tons of wedding photographers have never gone to school for photography, but a college kid would know all of the latest tricks of the trade- all of that crazy technology now-a-days!
They would be cheap since they need exposure and experience too.
You could even request to see samples of their work to make sure you are safe.
They would be thrilled for the opportunity.
Don’t use a familly member or accurate friend for the photographer even if, too many things could screw up that situation!
    Decorations are simple.
Making them yourself would be your cheapest way to go.
For tablecloths, you could either rent them from a party supply store or have someone hem some lovely fabric of your choice from a fabric store nearby.
    Centerpieces?
I always like creative candle preparations, and you could even make those your wedding favors for the guests.
Go to walmart, the dollar tree, or a cheap craft store and get some glass dishes to fill with a small water, fill the very bottom with some marbles or glass beads, then get floating candles to light in the focal top.
I’ve seen square mirrors set underneath the centerpiece and even small christmas illumination look really cool to just drape around the whole arrangement.
    Flower centerpieces are fantastic too.
You could get some fresh flowers from a local farmer or from your farmer’s/saturday market, or use fake ones from walmart or the craft store.
Get a few of your favorite blooms and set them in a skinny clear vase that is filled with colored water, glass marbles, stones, pennies, beans, whatever.
Everyone like candy, you could buy a few bags of m&m’s, red hots, dinner mints, anything small, and sprinkle them around the centerpiece or even the whole table for cute, edible decor.
I have also seen picture frames with pictures of one or both of the couple.
You could use pictures of when you were growing up at different stages at all of the tables, or your date pictures, or even pictures from the wedding that were developed before the reception if that is possible.
With this thought you can use frames you already have, get cheap matching ones, buy a hodge podge from a second hand store, borrow some from a friend, anything goes!
It is a very personal touch to have pictures out, wherever you show them.
I don’t really know anything about catering, but you can always recruit friends and family to help prepare any food you want bestow on your huge day.
If you shop for your food at the store, make sure to check the unit price of each item to get the best deal.
Some stores will give you a discount if you talk to the manager ahead of time and are getting a huge amount.
Also, question a manager about any future sales that they could tell you about, sometimes they can’t tell you even if.
Make sure your food won’t go terrible before the day you need it.
My friend had a reception with only cinnamon rolls and hot cocoa, and everyone loved it.
She had friends each bring a few dozen of their favorite recipe, some orange rolls, with nuts, with raisens, with chocolate frosting, with extra cinnamon goo!
We made the hot cocoa as it was needed in three huge fancy crockpots that were lended to us.
It is incredible how creative you can get and how fun it can be when you are forced to stick to a budget.
Have fun and remember that it is your day to have what you want, no one else gets to criticize your choices!
Don’t worry too much what everyone will reckon or what is expected from you, just stay pleasant and all will go wonderfully.
    Excellent luck and congratulations!
    Best wishes!

My mother rented a park & made my dress. My cousin made my cake. My mother also worked for a caterer, so she made most of the food. My uncle was the photographer. It was fantastic.

hi, ok so this is what i’m doing for my wedding nxt year, i’m having a brunch wedding with breakfast foods, which worked out so much cheaper as there isnt as much meat etc to buy, no alcohol cost, well very smallest! annd its cheaper to get venues as its and un-habitual time. and you can do it so classy as well!

I’m kinda in that same boat! Here’s some of my thoughts…For favors, I went to Michael’s and bought 100 favor boxes and with the weekly 40% off coupon they were a small over $10.00. Then I got thin red ribbon from their $1.00 ribbon cart. I’m going to place some Hersey kisses the boxes, tie them up with ribbon, and add a small note that says…"A box full of kisses from the new Mr. & Mrs."

For the cake, I found my cake on http://www.carriescakes.com, and I’m having a local baker make her own verison of it. For decorations, I’ve pretty much bought everything from random places. For example: chocolate brown table covers from http://www.oreintaltrading.com, I bought from red fabric (for centerpeices) from the local Walmart, buy a few sunflowers from the local Dollar General, 2 voltive candle holders per table (bought at Ancient Time Pottery) and candles from Walmart as well. That’s the table decorations we’re going with. I’m making our own archway from trees in the woods that we plot to cut ourselves and decoration accordingly. My best friend is photographing much of the wedding with her own camera. I bought the bridesmaid dress from JCPenny.com-they were PERFECT! And for food, we’re going with BBQ & we plot to pick up everything from Sam’s Club and have a few family members cook it up for the receiption!

    Hope that helped you! :)

Food — I did the one stop thing at the supermarket and it was fine — lovely even. We had a three tier marble cake with white icing and flowers in our wedding colors. Classic and gorgeous and tasty unlike some of the fancy wedding cakes I have had.

If I had it to do today I would go to the Mexican bakery (not sure if you live in an area with a lot of Mexican immigrants but if you do there is sure to be a bakery) where they make 3 milk (tres leche) cakes. They are fluffy and creamy and heavenly with fruit filling — very tasty for an mean cake price.

Food: again the one stop supermarket thing. I had a 1:30 p.m. wedding with an afternoon snack reception centered around meat and cheese trays with yummy homemade buns and a special sandwich dressing the deli made for us. We had lemonade — mixed up a bunch of people time and floated lime and lemon slices in it — no one was the wiser — and had ice water; iced tea and coffee. People loved it. It was simple food but presented elegantly and tasted yummy — better than some generic catered dinners I have been to at much more expensive weddings.

Decorations — if you have an outdoor wedding in a park or flower garden you will need smallest decorations. If you get married in a church sometimes they have pew bows and candles and tulle and other decor you can use. If you have the reception in a generic hall they have lots of decorating items on Oriental trading Company and you can also quest Craigslist and eBay for like-new items.

Photography: Craigslist again. Find a photography student or an up and coming photographer willing to do time for prints. They could make you a CD of your photos for you to email or get the prints done when you can afford it.

Dresses: Target.com. Their dresses get mostly fantastic reviews and the ones that aren`t — the dress did not fit that individual person aptly or they got the incorrect size. You can get a gorgeous dress in the $100 range and the women in the wedding party can get tasteful dresses they would wear again for $50 or less.

Lots and lots of thoughts on how to have a fabulous wedding without the things the WIC (wedding manufacturing complex) says you HAVE to HAVE but are mostly excuses to part you with your money.

If you aren’t superstitious, buy a used dress, either on craigslist or in a used clothing store in your town.
For photography, check with your local college and find a student photographer, either a junior or senior so they know what they’re doing, and they will do it to gain experience and will charge very small.
As for cakes, cupcake towers are very well loved now. Just google it and you’ll find many different types. They are MUCH cheaper than wedding cakes and can be very elegant.
We’re doing a picnic-style wedding dinner to add fun after our formal ceremony. It’s also more affordable b/c you don’t need fancy silverware, glasses, white linens, etc.
Make your own food if you feel comfortable or have a local grocery store cater. We’re doing spicy bean wraps, potato salad, pasta, salad, fruit kabobs, green salad…and it’s really affordable (we’re making all except the wraps ourselves).
For decorations we’re cutting open a watermelon and turning the halves cut side down and then sticking mixed fruit kabobs into the rind to make a touch like this http://www.brockhouserestauran.....cktail.jpg
    Excellent luck!

I made my own invitations! I spent about $70 for a total of 175 invitations! and every 1 complimented them and said they had never seen any like that before! I save about $220!
Dress-I went to many stores to try on dresses and when i found the one i liked i told the sales lady to place it on hold for about a week. During that week i searched many websites that offered the SAME dress for half the price! It took longer to arrive but if was worth the $350 save! Photography and video was $0! His cousin took some classes for photography and took allll of our wedding pics at no cost! they cam eout gorgeous!
Linens- I bought the linens from linen N Things 1 week before the wedding . I spent between $250-$300 for 15. After the wedding I got them dry cleaned and returned them and go tmy money back! (i know this sounds messed up but whn i ws purchasing them…the sales lady was the 1 who gave me the thought…..=-) )
