Around here (NJ) they have wedding expos and shows where all the DJs set up their equipment and you listen to each one give a "sample" of their work. That really helps because you get to see how the DJ works and the crowd, etc. If you can’t find an expo in your area, talk to other brides or people who hosted parties with DJs you loved. It’s always excellent to get references. We had price quotes from $250 (that frightened me!) to $1500 with illumination and junk. We finished up using the same DJ that my fiance’s 2 sisters and 2 of our friends used because we knew his work and liked him.

    Excellent luck!

I would highly suggest going to the local boards on the knot and asking for excellent DJ recommendations.

Go to http://www.yelp.com and enter in DJ’s for Denver Colorado. It will pull up local DJ’s that have been reviewed and rated with a star system by people in your community. It also lets the reviewers tell you what was excellent and terrible with them. I use Yelp for everything from nail salons to restaurants. Congratulations and excellent luck with the DJ!
