If it's outdoors, how about a badmitton set up? It's not too dogged but alot of fun. How about horseshoe toss? Again, not a sweaty game. Except everyone is gonna be in jeans in t-shirts, you can have a 'picnic' reception. I heard that done a few times, and what a cool thought. Sure more fun that getting drunk and dancing like a fool. No one ever knows how to dance anymore anyway. Congrats on wedding!
Nope,i got married at city hall.
Get a boom box, a Kenny Rogers CD, and some disposable cameras.
Download your favorite music and burn your own CDs .. If it's casual a boom box playing in the background would be fine. You can even get a few karaoke tunes that a friend might sing for them.
There's no problem with just playing a CD player. Burn the CDs that you delight in, especiallyIf it's a casual reception, then there's no shame. It sounds like it's an exciting and informal event, and although a band is nice, the costs are out of this world!.
You can also have lawn games and board games (if they are allowable at home) set up and available. Are kids coming? If so, try a photo scavenger hunt for them. But don't expect everyone to just into the games aptly away–most will doubtless just want to talk.
You don't have to place on a show or make people delight in themselves. This is a joyous occasion! Just let people delight in themselves so that you can delight in and celebrate your marriage!
BUBBLES! LOTS OF LITTLE BOTTLES OF BUBBLES! Get bubbles at the dollar store. The adults had more fun with the bubbles than the kids did. We had a "teddy bear" wedding reception. We had a bride and groom bear on our cake and instead of flowers all over, my daughter and her friends brought all their nice stuffed bears and we had bears everywhere. It was so cute. Fantastic music thoughts already listed. Disposable cameras are fantastic too. Have a "face painting area (with washable markers) for the kids (adults) to get painted. How about limbo? Karaoke? Make it fun for all ages and people will remember it for always!
you may have a problem w/ amplification. you can rent the equipment and have a designated person to operate the music station. if dancing is a huge deal to the couple and guests, you should also reckon about a dance floor.
if the reception is in the evening, be sure to test the lighting in advance.
hope this helps:D
I am getting married this saturday. We also are having an outdoor reception. We rented the tent, tables and chairs. We hired someone to do a pig roast for us and we extra many other food items. We are using a cd player for our music. We are setting up horseshoes for everyone to play. We have kids coming so we bought them a moon bounce to play on. We are also hanging white christmas illumination around the tent for when it gets dark outside.
got a Stero? You know anyone who plays in a band?
