in general you don’t tip the owner of a affair…this goes for hair salons, tattoo parlors, and photographers
except she’s working for a company she should not be tipped
if she is working for someone else, wait until you get the pics and then choose if she deserves a tip
i don’t know about your area, but $1200 is not a discount if you’re not getting an album…
i’m only getting a cd and printing rights (you have to get the rights to print ’cause otherwise the photographer owns the copyrights & you’d be breaking the law printing them)
we’re paying 1450 but we’re also paying for an assistant, if we didn’t get the assistant it would be 1250…
also we only have to pay 1/2 in advance and the other 1/2 when we get the disk so we don’t have to worry about the problems 4ree listed…she won’t have all of the money until we get our stuff!
I would wait till you get the pictures.
Some photographer promise pictures in 6 weeks and some couples are still waiting after 6 months!
Have you seen these photographer horror tales here on Y!A:

If you’re pleased with the job that she did and you like your pictures you can tip her but it’s not mandatory.
Generally you don’t tip a photographer, but I would make an exception in this case. She will have the travel expense and a few other up front expenses. Beside, you want her to start working on your pics asap.
