ahhhh if you go for ebay then be prepared for dissapointment! A friend bought one from ebay & while it was certainly the dress in the picture & the measurements were right, the material was really tacky & way too over priced.
Have you thought about simplifying the dress? Buy one at a boutique or upper class store & add the beading or lace yourself?
Ummm, you could check out the warehouses or even some wholesalers allow the public to buy single items (some not all!!) Check out the marriage boutiques often as they quite often reduce the prices for stock they cannot go or if they are coming into a new season. You’ll be amazed at how much the prices drop at those times!!!
How about a prom or brideamaid dress? You can get some really pretty ones that could easily pass as wedding dresses. Also, when we were int eh marriage shop for my cousin, they had a HUGE rack of discontinued dresses there for $25! You might find such a rack at a store near you! Those dresses were lovely, and who knows they were last year’s designs?
No matter how accurate or far away the wedding is get your dress when David’s Marriage is having a sale…they have really fantastic dresses and usually they go on sale around the time that not tooo many people are doing weddings….you can always get the dress tailored to fit you when it comes time for the huge day
Ebay. There are alot of modern dresses sold on there. If you wear a wedding dress and the marriage goes terrible, women want to get rid of the dress as quick as possible, without worrying what they get for it. They just want it out of their life.
If you aren’t too particular, you could buy a dress that has been worn once, then cleaned. I bought my dress out of the newspaper from a lady who had bought it, and then never got married, saved lots of money this way. Check and see if Craigslist.com lists your town. There are nearly always some dresses on there that have been bought, not worn, and being sold for less than the buy price. Excellent Luck.
I wouldn’t rent if it will be about $90 or more..cos Davids Marriage have this $99 sale now. But if you go to Davids Marriage, make sure you are set to get only the $99 dress and don’t be persuaded to get a touch other than that
I found a website that has marriage gowns (and bridesmaids and flowergirls) at discounted prices. I’ll leave the link below. Hope you can find a touch you like at a reasonable price!!
If you aren’t one who is worried to wear a used wedding dress the Goodwill Auction site has them pretty cheap most sell for $40 - $80 counting s&h. They get a varity of them and seem to be a small known place to find them. Most may need to be professionaly cleaned and some may need some minor repairs, but at that price you could get a couple to figure out what kind it is you want. I wouldn’t go to David Marriage’s as I have heard nothing but terrible reviews of when you are having the dress altered and what have ya. Also there are many other thrift stores purhaps in your area who would also have wedding dresses I’ve seen some in my area for $20 - $45. Here is the link to Goodwill’s Auction site so you could check it out at least if nothing else: http://www.shopgoodwill.com/default.asp
They also have some other wedding stuff on there at times as I got a groundbreaking new Guest Book still in the box for $6 and a caker server and knife and pen to match the guest book for $5. It’s just the matter of hunting and checking around heck you might even to be able to find one at a yard sale and get it for even cheaper who knows until you really start looking around. I am preparation to have the least expensive wedding myself, but still have it look like I spent thousands of dollars on it,lol.
Check eBay - there are lots of inexpensive gowns there. Also try CraigsList.org and preownedweddingdresses.com. Go to specialtybios.com, look for the For Sale links, and see if a bride in your area wants to sell her gown.
David’s Marriage often has a $99 gown sale, so try there as well.
Visit some local thrift stores and Salvation Army stores. I’ve seen some fantastic, modern wedding dresses there before.
Go to local marriage salons and question if they have anything in your price range. Often, salons will sell you the "Sample" gowns for cheap, because other brides have tried them on. They’re usually in excellent shape and would just need to be professionally cleaned.
Go to makingmemories.org and see if the Brides Against Breast Cancer event will be in your area before then. Brides and designers donate gowns to this event, which sells them cheaply to other brides and gives the profits to breast cancer victims. It’s a fantastic cause and you may be able to find a gorgeous dress for cheap.
Check out some specialty stores and stores that sell formal dresses. White House/Black Market, J Crew and Ann Taylor would be fantastic places to start, so check out their Web sites. A prom dress from Deb, Group USA or Windsor might fit the bill.
Buy or order a bridesmaid’s gown in white or ivory. Many bridesmaid dresses today are just as elaborate as marriage gowns. You may need to pay rush shipping if you have to order a gown, even if, so beware of that.
And don’t forget that your gown doesn’t need to be white or ivory at all! Maybe you can find a gorgeous formal dress or bridesmaid’s gown in your favorite color. Again, try specialty stores and upscale clothing stores.
Congratulations!
If you do end up getting a dress at David’s Marriage, do NOT get it altered there. The alterations for my dress cost nearly as much as the dress did, which was about $300. It’s outrageous! It’s cheaper to take it to someone else who does alterations than to go owing to David’s Marriage.
